Permissions are requested when needed for a particular feature.

Some HET information may be stored locally on your device.

Locally stored information may include:

  • Journal entries

  • Notes

  • Profile information

  • Memories

  • App preferences

  • Photographs

  • Other information needed for offline access

Local storage allows HET to remain usable when your internet connection is unavailable or unstable.

Information stored only on your device may be lost if:

  • The App is removed

  • App data is cleared

  • The device is lost, damaged or replaced

  • A temporary account is logged out

  • A backup has not completed

Deleting the App does not necessarily delete information already uploaded to cloud services. Cloud information should be removed through HET’s account-deletion process where applicable.

7. Cloud Backup and Syncing

Depending on your account type, App version and enabled features, HET may upload information to cloud services for:

  • Backup

  • Restoration

Cloud-stored information may include:

  • Journal entries

  • Notes

  • Memories

  • Chapters

  • People and places

  • Photographs

  • Voice recordings

  • Transcripts

  • Preferences and related records

Uploads may occur when you save information, open the App, reconnect to the internet or manually request synchronisation.

Cloud backup does not guarantee immediate upload or permanent recovery of every file.

8. Temporary and Anonymous Accounts

HET may allow you to continue using a temporary or anonymous Get Started account.

A temporary account is assigned a technical identifier so the App can operate without requiring an immediate Apple or Google sign-in.

Depending on the features enabled, temporary-account information may be stored locally, in Firebase or through a combination of both.

A temporary account may not be recoverable if you:

  • Log out

  • Remove the App

  • Clear App data

  • Lose access to the device

  • Fail to connect Apple or Google

  • Delete the temporary account

HET may offer the ability to connect a temporary account to Apple or Google to improve account recovery and cloud access.

9. Service Providers

We use trusted service providers to operate HET.

These may include:

Google Firebase

HET may use Firebase services supplied by Google, including:

  • Firebase Authentication

  • Cloud Firestore

  • Cloud Storage for Firebase

  • Cloud Functions

  • Security, crash-reporting or diagnostic services where enabled

Firebase may process account identifiers, authentication information, database records, files and technical information to provide these services.

Apple and Google Sign-In

If you choose Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, the relevant provider processes your sign-in request and provides HET with the information you authorise it to share.

Apple App Store and Google Play

App stores may process:

  • Downloads

  • Purchases

  • Subscription status

  • Transaction identifiers

  • Refunds

  • App-installation and device information

Human Eat Tech does not receive or store your complete payment-card details.

Support and Communications Providers

If you contact us, our email, hosting or support providers may process the information contained in your message.

We do not share private User Content with advertisers for targeted advertising.

HET does not provide public access to your journal or autobiography by default.

11. Overseas Processing

Some service providers used by HET operate internationally.

Your information may therefore be processed or stored outside Australia, including in the United States and other locations where our providers operate data centres or support services.

Privacy and data-protection laws in those locations may differ from Australian law.

We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers and protect information handled on our behalf.

  • Unauthorised access

  • Unauthorised modification

  • Unauthorised disclosure

Measures may include:

  • Authentication

  • User-based access controls

  • Database and file-storage security rules

  • Provide HET

  • Maintain your account

  • Complete backups and syncing

  • Resolve support or security issues

  • Meet legal, accounting or regulatory requirements

  • Establish, exercise or defend legal claims

Information stored locally remains on your device until it is deleted through the App, cleared from the device or removed with the App.

Cloud-stored User Content generally remains associated with your account until you delete the content or delete the account.

Deleted information may remain temporarily in technical logs or backup systems before being removed or overwritten through normal system processes.

We may retain limited transaction, security or legal records where required or permitted by law.

14. Access, Correction and Export

Depending on the available features, you may:

  • View your profile information

  • Edit your journal entries and memories

Account deletion may remove:

  • Your authentication account

  • Profile information

  • Journal entries

  • Memories

  • Chapters

  • People and places

  • Photographs

  • Voice recordings

  • Transcripts

  • Other cloud information associated with the account

Information stored locally on another device may remain until it is separately removed or the device synchronises the deletion.

Some limited information may be retained where required by law or temporarily maintained in technical backup systems.

Once information is permanently deleted, it may not be recoverable.

For deletion assistance, contact:

support@humaneattech.com

16. Your Privacy Choices

You may control your information by:

  • Choosing whether to add optional information

  • Refusing camera, microphone, photo or location permission

  • Editing or deleting saved content

  • Using local features without adding optional media

  • Connecting or not connecting Apple or Google

  • Exporting your information where available

  • Logging out

  • Deleting your account

Withdrawing a permission does not automatically delete information previously saved using that permission.

17. Children’s Privacy

HET is not intended for children under 13 years of age.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we become aware that information has been collected from a child under 13 without appropriate authority, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information may contact:

support@humaneattech.com

18. Data Breaches

If a data breach occurs, we will investigate and take reasonable steps to contain and address it.

Where required by applicable law, we will notify affected individuals and the relevant regulator.
